Hello all and thanks in advance.
I have a 1995 Disco 1 with a TDI 300 engine and auto gearbox.
Last week while on a long trip I suddenly started loosing power and car slowed down by itself. I pulled over and couldn't see anything specific wrong. Checked transmission fluid and level was good.(fluid had just been replaced).
After turning off the engine and trying to restart the starter would spin but it would no longer start.
The mechanic diagnosed the problem to be a drive plate (felx plate) and sure enough after pulling out the engine it was found to be broken in the center.
Replaced the drive plate and put engine back together and started fine but it does not drive at all. No forward or reverse in High or Low with diff locked or not. Simply nothing. I don't even get any reaction or feeling that any gears are engaging. I checked the linkage under the vehicle of of both gear box and transfer case and everything seem to be moving.
Mechanic suggested the gearbox pump. Another mechanic suggested the same and hypothesized that it may have been damaged during the re-installation of the engine.
Any and all input is greatly appreciated.
