I have a problem. All has been fine until a couple of weeks ago when the engine would struggle to get beyond 3500 revs. So I thought first thing to do was change the fuel filter.

Problem now is that the filters not getting any fuel. I primed it by filling it with diesel. It ran and then started to judder and when I pressed the accelerator it died.

It now starts but dies as soon as you press the accel. Take off the filter and it is only a 3rd full. Refill and same again.

The lift pump does not appear to be doing anything. Read that you need the engine in the right place but not sure how to do that. Help !!!!!

turn the engine a few degrees to get the pump off cam, then pump by hand but only works very last part of stroke.\simple and cheap to replace.

What vehicle/year/engine/gearbox?

He's not gonna tell you that, keeps ya guessing :D:D:D

It's odd how most newbs these days just post a problem, get some answers and sod off never to be heard from again.

Tis a forum lol maybe he does not want to be your friend

just had simler poblem with mine ,remove and clean out sediment filter bowl near front of fuel tank near o/s/r wheel , also check gauze in top of lift pump , the only way i could get mine to bleed up was to have turning over with bleed undone on filter housing

Thanks for all your suggestions. Picking up lift pump in a couple of hours and will let you know how it goes.

Cleaned out the sedimenter and all lines are clear so I am hoping the pump is the problem.

Sorry to ask a dumb question but how do you manually turn the engine?

Unplug the solenoid wire on the injection pump (stops any possibility of the engine firing up), then give the ignition key a little quick 'flick'.

So . I have fitted the new pump and it is still not drawing any fuel into the filter when I pump.

Could I have fitted it wrong? Arrgh!

Any suggestions?

BTW . There is a difference to now in that it seems to rev much higher a first before losin power and then stalling.

check the fuel line from the tank to the pump. If its split it wont leak fuel out but draw air in as is negative pressure

On top of filter housing is a bleed screw loosen 1/2 turn a start engine tighten when air has come out.
