Hi,

I'm hoping someone will be able to help...
I've recently acquired my 1st Landy yay! :)
However, the dash is displaying the following electrical faults;
1. Fuse 17, 6, 7 is blown - all are ok I have measured and replaced the fuse(s) still displays the same message!
2. SRS light is displayed- doesn't go out looked at connectors look ok to me.
3. ABS fault - Today I checked the wheel sensors, brake switch, and ABS pump. Fault still displays on the dash :(

The battery is reading at 11.82V, would charging the battery help? (Incedently, the guy I brought the car from jump started the car a few days before - could this have caused the 'faults' to manifest?)

Apart from taking the car into the garage to get a diagnostics check , does anyone else have any suggestions?

All help / advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you for hanging in here and reading through! :)

V. funny! Nope there are no lions under the bonnet I doubled checked just to be sure ; )

Nope not yet.. Is on my list tho. Would charging the battery help?

It might........................ but

When you say you have "recently acquired" your 1st Landy

Can we assume that you cannot for some reason take it back where you got it from for them to sort out

The ECU's do not like low volts, 11.82 = a flat battery. Anything much below 12.5 volts, expect all manner of fault messages as various ECU's go barmy.
Sort the battery and check that you have 14.2volts from the alternator at 2K rpm.
Charging the battery will not help if it has been flat for a long time. You may need a new battery, 135Ah 1000CCA battery megastore on line, about £98 delivered. (no affiliation)

Cheers guys,
In answer to your question i brought the car for not alot of money from a private seller so she does require a bit of tlc...
Ok will order a new battery. One more question.. On fitting a new battery will the fault codes go or will they need resetting?

Most will clear but the SRS restraint system may not. If it does not clear immediately or after a few starts, it will need diagnostics to clear.
It's also possible that the under bonnet fuse box is shot, check for signs/smells of burning, which may also account for the fuse errors. Also check that the carpet around the drivers seat is not wet.

Thanks for the advice... Have checked the engine fuse box seems fine so thinking that most of these codes are thrown up because of the battery issue. Carpet and seals are in good condition so thats one thing less to worry about...

ABS fault no brake lamps could be brake switch.

Checked brake switch, is working correctly with enough travel when the brake pedal is not depressed...

Ok do you have any tips for me to check?

Well there are two versions of how to fit the brake switch. Up to 98 and 99 on. I would always use the 99 on version. Pull the plunger out about an inch or so. Then push pedal down and fit switch. When pedal returns you will hear the plunger being pushed back in. That sets it in the correct position. Providing switch is actually working and there is power to it that should be it.

Only one on the diesel auto. He ain't said which it is yet. The L shaped one is the one he needs to set correctly.
