Thanks for that contact Griff, have spoken to him and he has nothing but will ask around.
Sierrafery, thanks for that suggestion. It looks promising but is from a Defender. I know the engines are the same but I believe the ECU maps are different, fuel pressure is different and the temperature sensor reads the wrong way.
I have a Hawdkeye Total but am a total beginner with code readers and ECUs. If I use a Defender engine can I use my Discovery ECU and just change the injector codes? Anything else to be aware of when using a Defender TD5 engine in a Discovery 2
Cheers, and many thanks
The engine is 100% the same, 15P Td5, period. All the differencies are made by the ECU so if you connect a D2 ECU to that engine it will work for the D2 if you see what i mean, the only thing you have to do is to save the injector codes in your ECU that's all...unless you want to use the injectors from your engine in the same order in it.
Got it. Perfect. So I can look for a 15P from either a Discovery or Defender, connect it to my ECU and all should work so long as I either enter the codes from the new injectors into my ECU or fit the injectors from my old engine, in the same order, into the new engine. I can cope with that.
Many thanks, Bertie
Yes, that's it, if you use your injectors it's just plug and play no programming needed, be aware that you can find engines from 15P to 22P(or even more ?), all are the same, no difference other than the engine code
