My Freelander 2 passed its MOT with flying colours today. But with one possibly expensive advisory note. That being I've only got about 1500 miles left on all four tyres. So I'm going to get them done straight away,as i have a 2k trip around Austria etc booked up. So can any member please advise on tyres that are a bit quieter than the ones fitted now. I'm not after cheapos.and have been told the perelli scorpions are as quiet as the can be on a heavy 4x4. Have any of you got got a particular make in mind that might be a bit quieter than others.
Dave.

Is there a tyre noise limit in Austria then:)

I'd recommend Pirrelli scorpions - I have a set on my D3 in the summer months and they are very quiet and good performing tyres

My new ones are slightly flat on the bottom but the rest of them are round.
They work better with some wind in anorl plus when your still they're quiet, they only sing when you're moving in my eggsperience. It's similar to hypnotising house bricks.

Ah.A nice sensible answer at last.Cheers mate. Why do people reply with crap like that.
Regards Dave

We had Pirelli Scorpions on our D2 V8 and the life was very disappointing, we got 18 months out of them, less than 30k miles.

We are currently running Nexen Roadian A/T 255/65R16's and they will pass 3 years in July.

Very pleased with them and also have a new set in the stores as we expected their life to be the same or worse than the Pirellis, but looks like we are going to get 3+ years at 15k a year out of them, and that includes heavy towing to the shows we exhibit at.

Camskill are the best on price.

i had pirelli 'scorpion' str's .. rated at 71db noise level
just recently changed them to michelin 'latitude tour' hp's .. rated at 69db noise level
( plus 3db difference equals twice-as-loud in noise level terms .. )
so a 2db difference ..
suffice to say the michelins are much quieter .. and consistent over various road surfaces

MICHELIN Latitude Tour HP | 4x4 & SUV Tyres | MICHELIN

the michelin 'latitude tour' hp's are the replacement for the older michelin 'synchrone's a.f.a.i.k.

If you ever come back on, I masturbate frequently, sarcasm is free in cases such as yours, there was no humuor implied only derision.

Please come back between 0800 and 1530 tomorrow if you want to question my attitude. I'll have some* examples of previous replies to your question.

Dave.

Have we to guess what ones you have on just now?

I'm going with Continental

The ones on there at the moment are continentals on the front. Michelins on the back.I bought it with those tyres.
Dave

Fudgepacker, In your first post you did not state what kind of tyres you had on your Freelander, hence my request to tell me the make of your tyres.
As I felt there would be no use giving you an answer if my answer would have been the same as the ones already fitted.
No smart reply, but lets face it you put yourself up for making an erse of yourself.
(Quite proud that I managed to guess correctly).
