Have you ever seen this style bull bar? And is it legal to use on '04?

Maybe it's plastic and covered in rubber and made to look like metal!
I'm sure the metal ones were outlawed and cannot be used unless the bull bar was original factor equipment.

Either way I thought it looked pretty cool on this tough looking lifting Freelander and a change to the soft 'nudge' bar. I've seen this LR bar before somewhere on a LR site but never thought we could use it in the UK?

Just wanted to share.

Hi. The wrap around one does look good yea.
Please make sure they are legal before buying! They are off-road but I don't think they are on-road due to European Law.

All parts from here:
Britcar (UK) Ltd

Having said that there is no mention on the website selling them about this.

This is STC50449 in the photo, for the 04' refresh MK1 it's vub501360

just been searching everywhere and can't find a up to 03 full wrap around bullbar as they arn't made anymore. there is however a 04 onwards, would i be able to make this fit an 02 freelander?
or does anyone know of a sencond hand one?
many thanks the optimist

Ive got a nice stainless steel bull bar waiting to be fitted in my garage my insurance company is happy with me fitting it just like all my mods. My understanding of the law was that it was now only illegal to sell new metal bull bars not illegal to fit them please correct me if im wrong.

You'll need to double check but I think it's still legal to fit AND sell.....it's the manufacture that has been stopped

the a frames are leagal if fitted to a car reg before 2009 after that it no the full wrap around ones must be fitted to a car before 2007 so this i was told hope this helps

surely if it was illegal then the insurance company would say no. as they wouldn't be able to cover something that wasn't road legal, with out risk of law suit on them selves if there was an accident.

yes say it was fitted when you got the freelander .

if you tell a insurance firm that it was fitted before and you have a accident then you could be in big trouble, as they would check if it was a serious accident but if it was fitted before then no problem, but dont you just get fed up with insurrance companies ripping us off. What they do if you tell them you have a aframe on they ask you the price of it then charge you that ontop of the usual money but if you tell them if it gets damaged you will take the responsibility for it they won't. hope this helps and yes this happened to me.

will an 04 and on bullbar be able to fit an 02 freelander or are the brackets at the bottom completely different,
thanks

when i had my face lift i tried the prefacelift a frame and it was too short as the face lift sticks out more but you could make a braket to fit

so theoretically the frame would be to long wich would give me a little space bettween the bumper and the bar which would allow more space for a winch.
thanks teddywood1
