I’m back with another question. On the front top of the engine sits the thermostat but to the right of it there is a triangle with 3 x small bolts holding it in place and with a wire coming out the top. I haven’t followed the wire to where it goes, but can someone tell me what it is and what does it do? also where does the wire go to please??

It's the otter switch for the choke warning light.

Thank you sir that is what it is. Do I need to use it as I have noticed the choke pull switch is just that nothing else. I’m sure I have seen a square box? Connected to one on a picture. As mine is just the chole pull do I need to use the choke warning light? Apologies for just getting back to you. Appreciate your time in answering my question

Older cylinder head water temperature sender, I think. Later castings have this unmachined, if I recall.
Evening sir, NathanGlasgow got it right it is the choke warning light. The water temperature sensor is underneath and to the left of the thermostat. Do you know where it is wired from the sensor? I have tried looking but can’t workout where it goes, so many wires I lose where it should go to. Appreciate you answering my question
