As I have said before, trade off for bargain price of my Rangie is a few issues, next on the list is the front windows.

Pass Side Window- Shows as not set and when closed, makes a loud grinding/clicking noise and the motor doesn't stop. It opens, it closes it just doesn't stop and shows as unset.

Drivers Side Window - Gets about 1/2 way down and seems to kinda slip, when putting it back up, it gets about 2/3 way then beeps twice and drops to 1/4 up, has to be manually assisted to come up.

Any ideas or experience of reasons and best way to fix

Appreciated in advance
Jamie

To set the wondows, put the glass to the full open position and hold down for 5-10 secs take the window up and hold for 5-10 secs. Should show on dash "window set" as for the other it's a safety device so if someone's arm was caught when the glass was going up its would go down if there's any resistance before it knows when it's closed. Try spraying the rubbers as they maybe holding the glass too tight if not then the mechanism may need replacing. Also if the car has had a side window replaced and there is glass stuck In the rubbers it will make a horrid scratching noise.

Sounds like regulators are slipping gears not a big job to do
rivet gun and a drill
also drivers might be jamming slightly

well I have the tech knowledge of a dead budgie, but hopefully my local gge (who work on a lot of landys) will do it with little fuss

Passenger side - Definately your window regulator has lost / ground some teeth. About £25 for a new one. Does the window rattle when it's wound down? If so the rubber guide has been removed which causes wear on the regulator gears.
Drivers side - this will be the rubber guide for the window inside the door. It can jam, eventually it will come loose & start to really cause problems. Better to pull this out, give it a good clean & fit back in with some sealant (tidy with the sealant though).
