If the positive feeds that are bolted to the back of the starter are loose, you won't get any dash lights at all.

Tighten the nut up (should be a 14/15mm nut). you shouldn't need to remove the down pipe to do this.
The red/white wire is the switched live, if you think this is duff, crimp a spade connector to one end of a piece of wire, connect the spade to the starter and brush the bare end across the battery positive. It should start.

If you do want to remove the starter, its held on by 3 16mm bolts.
You WILL have to remove the down pipe. Take the clamp off the manifold then the flange at the bottom of the down pipe. The downpipe will also be bolted to the engine block about halfway down it's length.

Hope this helps.

Frustrated last night knowing what the problem was so went out and fixed it. Wiper water tank off for easier access down pipe loosened and moved. Took off wires from solenoid cleaned up put back together and hey presto it works. Problem now I noticed no front prop shaft. Got one from a friend £10 just needs New ujs will be fitting through week. Will having no prop shaft cause any damage when driving?

Make sure you can unlock the centre diff if it's seized it's possible the transfer box is knackared however it could just be seized linkage

Your little lever behind the gearstick will be over to the left in the 'lock' position.

To 'unlock' it pull it over to the right.

The small lever inside does 2 jobs.

Left to right engages diff lock locks the diff in the transfer box

Forward and back does high neutral and low

Move the little stick towards the driver and keep it pulled rearward

Ahould put it in diff lock unlocked and keeping high range you should get no drive the output flange should spin Do Not put diff lock in while it's in gear you will damage it!
Depress clutch select neutral then push the lever left once it's in select a gear and make sure you have drive again

Rock3t where abouts in the world are you??

Might make sense to pop down to a local meet one day to chat and ask questions understanding diff lock low and high will stop you from damaging your motor off-road

I suspect they will have a monthly meet but if not go along to one of their trials days usually on a Sunday. They will point you in the right direction. Tell them you were sent from an AnglianLRC member. They will show you what works offroad and what doesnt. Lots of bull online and spouted about how you need a winch/ massive bull bars HD springs and all that faff.

These guys will show you the basics andif you do have a go trialling you will out drive many playday all the gear driver all day long!
