Morning, new to this site and the world of land rovers, look forward to help and advice if and when needed, guessing it my be a bit more frequently than I thought..

Had a discovery 2 es for a couple of weeks and very impressed with it. So far I've just had to unseal the front electric sunroof and clean the motor (it worked!), and strip drivers door down as whoever last had it must have done same and not located the manual handle lock into the actuator... thus couldn't lock with key... passenger door lock is sticking but I think it's electrical problem.

My main problem is this... the radio is the original sat nav type, and was working and sounding good. Friday evening I jumped in, was baking hot, and now radio keeps turning itself off and back on... guessed it was the temperature, but yesterday morning when all had cooled down still doing it. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, Pete.

Small update... was still playing up this morning, switching off for a fraction of a second every 10-20 seconds. After running the engine for 5 mins or so the problem appears to have temporarily gone away.. the terminals on the battery are nice and tight, I'm thinking the battery itself maybe on the way out and is interfering with it?

Hi Pete,

Not sure about the radio problem, have you checked for a loose wire in the connector block for the radio itself?

Ref the sunroof, if it was sealed up, have you checked to see if it was done to "fix" a leak, Landy sunroof are notorious for leaking. If you do a search then it has been discussed lots on here. There are some good write ups around. As there are multiple reasons for the leak.

Passenger door, if it is not unlocking , then it could be the actuator, if it is then it is an easy enough fix, but it does mean changing the whole actuator, iirc a new one is about £65.

Have you got the RAVE workshop manual? defo worth downloading.

Also , have you got the EKA code. You will find mention of it in the owners manual, in the alarm / locking section.

Finally, Welcome to the loonyzone.

Cheers

Cheers for the reply! Yeah I'm guessing the sunroof probably does leak somewhere, I've got a new seal I'm going to fit, then I guess if it leaks it will be a headlining job...

Got myself a Haynes manual, I'll check out the one you've mentioned. The motor came missing the manual, I'm guessing the code you mention is for if I change the actuator or is it just a fit and plug in job?

I'll have a go at getting the navigation unit out next time it plays up, was thinking of changing it but the sound is good and the nav bit is growing on me, the display tells me what road I'm on and which direction i.e. n,s,e,w. I can imagine in its day 14 or so years ago it was quite a piece of kit!

Thanks again for the reply.

Hi Pete.

If you download the RAVE manual. it includes an owners manual.
It can be downloaded here , Disk 1 needs to be downloaded onto a computer.
http://www.myrangerover.co.uk/rave-workshop-manual/

Actuator is plug and play.
EKA is in case the fob stops working or the rf receiver in the roof. In which case you will not be able to drive the car unless you enter the EKA code.
A bit more info is available here for it. In the Alarm attachment.
