After the rangie folks little chat last night I decided not to buy the car I was going for,so today me and the wife went out and bought this, a tdv6 se :)
Already got my first question lined up :-
The key fob works fine but the casing is knackered
Can anyone recommend anyone to replace the fob casing and I would like to get a second key made up so I presume it will have to be synced to the car
I’m in cheshunt Hertfordshire

Had two quote to cut and program a new key £165 and £160 so I guess that’s about the going rate
Ordered a new casing from amazon which should arrive tomorrow,do I just swap the internals over,if the fob battery falls out during the process is there a time limit for getting the battery back in without causing any problems
 
This is dead easy to swap over to new casing. Just have the new one open and ready to drop the internals into it (make sure it’s lined up correctly before you snap it shut though.
 
The fob I had the battery was sealed into the unit it came with so it’s unlikely to fall out but I’m no auto electrics expert or mechanic by any means (I just tinker lol) .
 
Always best to get ur own diagnostics , save urself a fortune

bought a new key off ebay and got the blank cut then programmed the key myself , total £60

indeed the battery is soldered in and recharge when u put the key into the ign

Obviously because you’ve done it but how do you program a key,if you need a computer then I’m knackered as I’ve only got a iPad and iPhone :(

u can get several diagnostics , the gap iid is the best but now around £420

the autel AP200 is around £50 and can program keys , is a simple diagnostics that will allow u to read/ clear codes

they both plug into the obd2 port and used via ur iPhone or iPad

keys on ebay make sure there 433mhz

Thanks for all the answers,sorry for the late replies only been out fitting a new head on a mates triumph 2000 all day.
I’ll order a new key from the link
My new blank and empty case turned up today from amazon so I’ll change that over tomorrow just incase I mess it up as I’ve got to go to Gatwick in the morning :)
I’ll have a look at the diagnostic thing tomorrow as well
And I’ll be getting quotes to have both belts,oil pump and gearbox flushed through
I’m in cheshunt Hertfordshire so I’ll be looking at GG in ware and alymers in potters bar
Unless any members can offer,obviously will pay the going rate (sorry if this last question breaks any rules then I’ll edit it out
 
Key fob ordered from the first link as the second link had sold out
Ap200 thing ordered as well

once it all arrives I’ll be asking questions :)
