Hi folks

I'm Ian, from Gloucester, and I have a problem! (apart from the landrover hoarding)

I've got a 1982, S3 109 hi capacity. I'm trying to change the fuel tank after it started loosing more diesel that the engine managed to burn.

I've brought a new tank, and new sender (part 623098) from Craddocks, but I just can't get the new female fuel unions and olives to fit over the fuel pipes off the sender, or the return on the tank.

Craddocks assure me their the right ones, and they do fit to the male version on the fuel lines.
My only conclusion is i'm being a useless!

Is their any knack to fitting them?

You might have toget the correct fittings for the tank, a pneumatic/hydraulic place would probably have the right stuff.

Sounds like you could have a mix of metric and imperial unions ( not sure if or when land rover changed over though.
Is there anything wrong with the old sender unit?
If you need to, try Hydraulic Equipment Supermarket at Innsworth, we use them with work. They are pretty good.

Thanks

I've uploaded a photo to show you the problem (if my It skills are up to it)

The olive, part number 530966 is sat on top of the fuel line, it's just too small to go over. I take it it should just slide over, and doesn't need expanding or anything?

I don't think there's anything wrong with the old sender, but even if I re-use it, I've still got the same problem on the fuel return line on the tank.

I'll take the sender down to the place in Innsworth, and see if they have anything.
