Hi every one!

I recently purchased a range rover l322 td6 hse from a local dealer (not main dealer)

On the test drive i noticed it said check coolant level which he said would be sorted as it goes through the work shop..... after a two weeks i finally picked the car up.. was waiting for my plate to swap over 2 bank holidays blah blah blah anyway...

One day after i picked it up i had the same message the level was fine so i called the dealer who said drop it back in in the mean time i have had a hdc inactive message which they look at and also replace sensor for coolent level and after a test drive confirmed all was ok

5 mile from the dealership on way home i get check coolant message! grrr he assures me it is something simple and is still ok to drive... fine ... following day get hdc inactive - check coolent and air suspention inactive drive straight there and he says ok must be a sensor and we booked it in..... now i have all of above and have no air con or normal blower fans at all and just to top it off the new key remote which i have always used decided to not open doors for 5 minutes

what to do? has any one else had a string of problems?

feel like taking back saying i dont want it! can i do that/? it has a years parts and labour warenty but i dont have time to keep sending back in time after time

any help would be good

Hi getting back to the question in hand .... not sure on the aircon might be just a top up as the L322 is super sensitive, if the coolant mixture isn't right after a few miles will flash up check coolant (distance varies) if the dealer has topped it its prob just with water as the correct coolant is red only and cost twice as much as normal stuff.. to get it right I just drained off some already existing water / coolant Nd topped up a litre of neat red coolant and all was well .. good luck

Drain a litre of water from your fax top up with a litre of neat coolant .. red stuff only, buy s new battery for your fob and follow the advice given by previous guys on programming the key fob.. do a search on this forum and there's some great advice on reprogramming.. from time to time the L322 need re doing, and its simple enough .. the aircon .. check your fuses in the glove box

I think you should decide where you want to end up. If you try and fix the problems yourself and fail then take it back to the dealer you may just have provided the dealer with an excuse to escape liability, then again you may not trust the dealer to fix it.
The law on sale of goods is not that easy but broadly there are statutory warranties which apply - fitness for purpose and merchantable quality being the usual ones relied upon in cases such as this - plus common law remedies in contract for breach of contract and/or mispreresentation.
If it was me I would take the car straight back to the dealer and say that the car as delivered was not as it was sold or as it was represented to be. I would also ask the dealer to agree a clear plan to address the problems , with timings, and once they have agreed it then write to them and tell them what they have just agreed.
There is a timing issue as well - broadly speaking your remedies decrease the longer you leave it BUT the easiest way to polarise the argument into possible intransigence on the part of the dealer is to go "legal" too early. I would suggest that for now you should return to the dealer and explain the problems, relying on comon sense to show that the car is clearly not as it should be, but make politely clear that if necessary you will take steps to protect your position, including but not limited to legal advice.

You might need to separate the problems and concentrate on the one(s) that really concern you - at first blush the key fob issue is different to (i.e. elgally weaker than) the coolant issue, so I would use that as a makeweight to get further on the more material issue(s).

If you are in the AA or RAC they can sometimes help with legal advice if needed, Citizens Advice Bureaux are usually good, Trading Standards might have experience of the same dealer, and frankly a letter from a Solicitor shouldn`t break the bank and can work wonders - but I hope it doesn`t come to it

I have in affect told him i will not stand for any re occuring problems that i deem to be wasting my time if cant get it sorted. he collected car and left car for me to use, in regards to time scale when asked on phone he said he will take to land rover when he picked it up he said his mechanic would investigate 1st also they use a good auto mechanic and also then theres always land rover i felt like i had been mislead but putting myself in his shoes what way would i play things land rover 1st? probably not!
he has had it 2 full days so i am hoping for some feed back maybe tommorrow

he has been fine and not disputing getting it sorted but cant or wont except the inconvenience it is and will cause me its no skin of his nose if he takes 2 weeks to fix it?!

anyway time will tell
