Anyone fitted a heated wind screen in a 200tdi Defender?
I have a '93' 110 and have a heated screen coming on Tuesday compliments of my insurance company due to the old standard screen getting a severe stone chip.
I know I'll have to buy a wiring kit separately, but where I'm a little unsure is for the alternator. Apparently I need an alternator that delivers 100amps, do I need to buy another to make the screen work or will the standard 1 for that year suffice?
You can probably tell, I have no idea what alternator is in there at the moment. Can I use a multimeter to find out?

Cheers

Three questions gang

1) Ive got allot of play in the steering wheel, about 3" float
I read the steering box need to be tightened, but I cant figure out how, not the same as what Ive seen on the net.

2) Checked the oil, and its dangerously LOW, any tips on oil type for a 3.5L V8??

3) Purchased antenna rods, and got a Pineapple for free, as you can see its a east EU pineapple that looks like SPUTNIK... problem is the Coax cable wont connect to the MK3 pineapple am I missing something here?

Steering BOX

SPUTNIK and Pineapple

On the bottom of the steering box there is a large nut that has been secured by a folded flap of metal flush up against 1 side if the nut.
You need to unfold the piece of metal and tighten that nut up then refold the securing flap.
Sorry a bit vague but my knowledge is pretty limited.

that is drop arm, leave alone unless loose,

there is lock nut and adjuster top of box, needs wheels up and lock to lock as adjusted-preferably by someone who has done it before so it doesn't tight spot

Before you start faffing with steering box adjustment check the condition of the balljoints in the drop arm and drag link, get some one to 'waggle' the wheel side to side while you lay underneath and look at the ball joint on the drop arm - there should be minimal to no movement before the wheels start to turn.

Wear in this joint can cause vague, wandering steering. Joint can be worn even if the rubber boot is intact. Wear I. The drag link can also cause vague steering but it isn't as noticeable as the drop arm as they aren't connected direct to the steering wheel.

check that, get your tracking done and the. See if that improves things - there are plenty of bits that make steering vague, I have finally got mine tight and precise and I haven't had to adjust the box at all.

Also worth checking the condition of all your rubber bushings on the front end.

Any have experience with MILLERS classic Diff Oil EP90 GL5?? My diff and gear box are leaking and this was recommended.... (89- 110 V8)... Any feedback??

Also looking for proper cooling fluid,I want to flush the system. Any tips... spec. type?

OK here goes another one:
- Rear axle CAP has fallen off, anybody know the part number? (89 exmod 110)(SALLDHAV7FA420222)
- also is it safe to drive? or limit this because of dirt and moisture.
