Hi, First let me introduce myself. I have recently moved to North Devon and as my current car (MB SL 350) isnt exactly suited to the Devon lanes, Hills and probably inclement forthcoming winter weather, I am looking to buy a Range Rover Vogue.

Not a new one ( I wish!!) but about £20k cost so that leads me to about 07/08 model.
My question is should I get the newest one for my money, what mileage, and what should I look out for?I think its diesel but what do others say? My annual mileage in this car is likely to be less than 5k.

Any advice on what to buy will be greatly appreciated:)

Get the tdv8 diesel

Hands down, seems to be the best engine so far !

Not sure on problems with 08/09 models as of yet as there not old enough to break lol

Go for a Land Cruiser if you have £20K to spend. Otherwise spend £10k on an L322 and put £10K to one side to fix the problems unless you are a good DIY mech and understand electronics. A Range Rover is not a car, it's a hobby.

10 grand is slightly OTT datatek

Being a 2008 onwards it should be more reliable than the early l322's are

Allow a couple of grand a year on maintenance I guess lol

Land cruiser is a lot of money, even if it is reliable there pig ugly and look dated

Thank you for such quick and helpful replies.

Should I go for 2008 yr, and if so why? Did it have upgrades then . Is there any website that can give me the changes year by year?
:)

They are all the same, they have some of the highest number of warranty claims of any vehicle in the first 2 years and after that they just get worse and worse. By the time they are 7 years old expect to spend shed loads of cash keeping it on the road.

Personally I don't give a stuff what the car looks like if it's reliable and comfortable which the Land Cruiser is. Looks are also a matter of personal taste.

If you are buying a late model one it's worth paying the premium and buying one from a stealer, that way you will end up with a manufacturers warranty, which normally you can extend year by year up until a certain age limit, ours is ten, dunno about land rover extended warranties.

Thanks to all. Im getting closer to a decision but very few cars in my price bracket out there at the moment

Buckingham blue with light interior
TDV8 vogue
circa 60k miles
circa £20k+
