Hi All
Just wanted to pop in and say hi!
Currently I do not own a Land Rover :-(
I have a Suzuki Jimny (which I do like to be fair), but I've just bought a lightweight caravan and although the Jimny will tow it, it is just too sluggish up long inclines and also setting off on steep hills is a challenge in timing the gap.
So I'm thinking of a Discovery (I'd love a Defender, but my wife's not so keen on them :-/).
I'll now be bombarding you all with questions ;-)
Thanks
Richard

hi and welcome to the loonyzone.ok firstly get rid of the jap crap then buy a nice disco 2.:D:D

Lol, will do!

good man.but if you do look at buying a D2.look very very very carefully at the chassis,it is a well known rust issue on them, especially the rear sections, look more so around the fuel tank area, inside and outside the chassis rail.:tea:

Ok, will do thanks :)
I'm going to go with a trade sale rather than private for a bit of peace of mind, but I can't seem to shake the fact that I really want a Defender 90. I don't think my wife will go for that and I'm not sure that it'd be the best bet for motorway journeys with the caravan in the back :-/ I would dearly love one though. I think a test drive of both would be best.
Thanks.
Richard

going with a garage makes no difference at all,i did and i am still having to have another chassis fitted to mine, the garage i bought mine from knew i wasunable to look at it properly, they even mot'd it for 12 months and they codged the chassis up as they knew i could not look underneath it.so they ripped me off big time.:(

D2 is just a defender with more comfort and toys built into it.

Oh right :-/ that's not good :-((
Ahhh right I see so it's down to a different body and a bit nicer/comfier inside?
Ok, well I better go and have a drive of both models to help me choose but If that's the only/main difference maybe the Discovery would be a better bet. ;-)
Thanks again

yes they are basically the same mechanicals, but the disco has all the comforts and toys that the defender has not.;)

Cheers. :) that's good to hear :))
I'll go and have a look and see if I can get a test drive of both.
Let you all know how I get on ;-)
