I've swapped my Disco for a Freelander
<pause>
for some, this may be heresy (but maybe not in this forum )?
<pause>
I'm very pleased; it drives more like a car (I'm happy about this) and so far, everything works in the 4 x 4 department works as I THINK it should but....
... I'd not had the disco for long (loved the thing but too much wrong with it) and I've had a Trooper before (loved it but it did blow up - literally) so ...
... this car's a 2002 1.8S, 3 door with the 'removeable' back.... headgasket, timing belt and master & slave cylinder all done at 98K - dry (really dry, even the toolkit is 'intact' and the toolkit 'well' bone dry) - showing 99K... looks 'lovely'... Hill descent and icons associated all good... all functions except drivers side window, work as they should.
Issues are:
broken, but still working passenger 'window switch' in the console by the handbrake. Can I replace the cracked switch or do I need to replace the whole fascia unit with all the switches?
Reversing lights don't come on (the cigarette lighter doesn't work).
Drivers side window wont operate (did I mention this).
The passenger side door won't lock on the key (the remote is not 'matched' and I'll sort this through a local LR dealer?).
The alloys are a bit pants in terms of 'prettiness', and the rear drums look very 'corroded' but the brakes work great.
... and that's it, so far...
What else should I check folks?
Oh, hang on! The 'demister' seems a bit useless unless one has it on the demister function.. i.e. it mists up pretty quick unless it's on 'demist'.
All help/suggestions gratefully received,
Ez
