Hello Guys, looking for some advice, recently bought a 300tdi auto Disco, in great condition on the outside in all fairness one of the cleanest examples I have seen, aswell as interior...

Needs a few jobs doing, ie the inner wings have began to rot on the edge of wing, boot floor has been started just needs welding or riveting in and seatbelt anchorage points sorting..

everything else seems fine just a few niggles, with the brakes feeling a little spongy and not really responsive due to standing, what would you try in first instance to sort this,

exhaust is rattling due to poorly fitted rubber, and possibly loose round the middle too..

rear seats elec windows are not working, what should i look for??

I am also looking to get good things within the vehicle, great oil which does the job, reccommended service extras, filters and any other additives??

Little slow on the start, will check with battery and then work to glowplugs, is expected due to not being driven in a long time..

one other issue is the speedo all works, but the milometer is not working, both are stuck?? what could the issue be, all advice welcomed,

what would you use to get the underside of the vehicle looking clean and revitalised, hammerite, or ny other product, looking to do it all well but cheaply too, and I am no mechanic, i am poor with a spanner haha//

Thanks Fran

Hi, I've just been fixing the rear window issue in my 300tdi manual and assuming yours has the same kind of electrics it sounds like the same issue, semi-solution drop your glove box down by pulling up the 2 spring loaded levers either side, behind using a torch you should see 2 plastic boxes mounted either side if a bracket probably black box left green box right, the black box is held in by 3 fiddly 7mm nuts so i just ripped it out and am planning on zip ties to hold it back  this box is your electric window ecu now i don't know the exact item that affects it but i fiddled with the 2 plugs that go into it and they started working again but then they stopped when i put it back in place so fiddled a bit more and it now works, however this problem has been ongoing sometimes they just decide to work other times not so i'm on the lookout for a replacement
As for your brakes always start with a good bleed that'll sort it so long as you have no leaking parts!

A search of the threads on here will give answers, you are not the first to have these problems.
