Hi all. My names Matt and I'm new to owning Land Rovers. I took the plunge a couple of weeks ago and bought a 1998 Freelander. Will post some pictures when I get chance. Whilst I do like it I think I may have bought a bit of a lemon. It ran perfectly for about the first week and then wouldn't start. I had the battery checked and it was a dud so got it replaced. Ran excellent for a few days. I was out in it one morning and done a bit of running around without issue and parked up at home. Went out a few hours later and it wouldn't start again. I think it may be the starter? I'll start a proper thread about this today.

Hi Matt, welcome to the forum ...

Have a look in the Freelander section, most faults that occur are not that rare and have been covered ...

A grown up will be along shortly to help ...

Here's my new Freelander.

Welcome to the forum

There's no such thing as a bad Freelander. There are some Freelander's that need a bit more love than others to keep them running. ;)

I haven't really looked at mine but I would imagine there should be a big nut holding it in.

Just thought I would give a quick update on my Freelander. Finally got the starter motor fitted yesterday, only took me about 90 minutes, which I thought was good. Turned the key and it fired up straight away. I'm now back on the road.
