Hi all
I have just purchased my first freelander which I have wanted for a very long time.

So here goes with my first problem (CLUTCH) which from reading a lot of posts seems to be a common problem.

Cannot engage gears when engine running but ok when not. Clutch pedal biting point just off floor and I mean just. It has already had master cylinder fitted last year so is it slave or clutch. I have checked for leaks and can not see any, And checked slave bracket. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Ok has it been standing for long time? just thinking clutch plate sticking, however as you say it bites so early its possible badly adjusted and or air is in the hydraulics.
Lets assume its all good, bleed the system just in case and check free play adjustment.
It could be as simple as basic set ups.
