To my novice ears, it sounds like something that has become loose and it is the slack taken up, giving a thumping sound through the driveshaft/diff area underneath.....does this make sense?

Sorry to introduce myself with an issue......on the personal front, I reside in West Sussex and love my Freelander....but essentially Land Rovers are quite part of the landscape here....
