Hi all
I have made the pleasure of buying another Freelander after a 10 year absence and so far so good, but I have just noticed a problem. When I bought the car it drove like a dream and it so for a few days. Then the next morning I set off to work and noticed a 'knocking' soung coming from the front. It is noticeable over the slightest of road ripples and usual road bumps, but not so much on speed bumps.
I am tempted to take to the local garage but I don't trust garages as it could be something like bushes, when I could end up paying a fortune for new suspension etc.
Anybody get any ideas what it could be? Its more noticeable from the passenger side but does appear to be on the driver side too.
Any assistance or ideas for a home fix would be appreciated.
Thanks
Kevin

Hello and welcome

if you want to have a look yourself jack the car up and use use a pry bar to check the bushes for movement worth checking the anti roll bar links for play/movement

:welcome2: to the mad house:D:D:D:D

Ask those nice gents in the Gaylander section, you've more chance of a reply than in ere;););)

welcome Kev,

i know a good, and trustworthy mechanic in St Helens if you want a number:D

ps sounds like a wheel bearing :)

Thanks for the responses guys. It is appreciated.
'The Egg' if you do know someone in St Helens, that would really be appreciated. Yesterday whilst preparing the car for a long journey down south at the weekend, I noticed brown sludge in my water bottle. Oh dear, the head gasket that was replaced 2 years ago was perhaps not so much true or wasn't a good job.
So this mechanic could become a good friend
Thanks in advance
Kev

Thankd very much for the help. Dave came and diagnosed the head gasket and the droplinks. He's a good guy. I need the car for next week so had to give the business to a local garage as he couldnt start it until next week, but he was honest and fair and you can't ask for more than that.
Just need to pay for it now.
Kev :(
