Hello all. Let me start with a huge thank you to everyone who contributes to this (and all help sites) forum it was a valuable tool when researching buying my 2004 4.4 vogue and has been just as valuable the last 6 weeks making it ‘just so’.
Have always wanted a RR but this is my first and am very very impressed, not a lot of 15 year old cars drive like this! Although to be fair this one has had a kings ransom thrown at it over the last 5 years (9k I was told)
For those of you that give a toss here is a short intro to her, L322 2004 4.4 vogue 130k RRSH LPG (70ltr donut) Front and rear lights and bumper upgrade (to I think 2012 spec, not sure, will post a pic one day and maybe someone will tell me) 20” wheels, metallic black paint, (gunmetal wheels) all interior now LEDs, recon gearbox at 90k, new front struts, rear bags and compressor 18 months ago. All in all think I got a good un!!! Time will no doubt tell!
When I get time within the next 2 weeks I will be doing an engine/gearbox oil and filter change axles and transfer box oils plus normal service stuff. Closest ‘rent a ramp’ I can find is Hampshire, not a problem as it seems a really good clean helpful place but like all things you need to be organised for there is always something you forgot as you arrive and open the boot!
I have a couple of things I need a little help with but let’s get the introduction out of the way first.

Hi and welcome to the forum and the world of range rover ownership:)
spannering yourself is the only way as you know whats done and saves a fortune:)

Looking forward to doing the BIG service as it goes and of course as the gearbox is working lovely I would be a mug not to do it, £100 worth of oil and filters and 2 or 3 (I hope) hours of labour is better than the inevitable £1500 + bill. Knocking on the door of 50 now so no more lying on my back for me and these rent a ramp things are great, people really should take advantage.
Thanks for the hello.

Welcome :)

Be sure to read up on jacking/battery protocol with this vehicle before diving in, they are specific in how they are treated

Any advice gratefully received. N/S back brake shoe retaining pin rusted through dust plate last week and pin and spring fell into brake hub and made a horrible scratching/ squealing noise, thought it was the hub until I started stripping it down and bits fell out when I removed the disc. Before jacking up I had a quick look on the net and it said leave suspension in normal, keys out, and leave a door open at all times, this worked and when I let the car off the jack and closed door it levelled itself out. Looking back I think suspension should be lowered before jacking as I had to put a decent sized piece of wood on the jack to get the height. Which is correct?
To solve the retaining pin problem I got a new pin, spring and twisty retainer washer thingy (slightly longer pin) and reverse fitted them from the back of the hub with a home made 1 inch washer to stop the pin falling through again this time fitting the twisty retainer washer thingy from inside the hub instead of from the back. (Twisty retainer washer thingy is an engineering term. Promise!)
When I do the oils and service I will be on a four poster so don’t think I will be jacking or disconnecting the battery, but if I am wrong please let me know. Forewarned.....and all that.
Thanks.

Hello Frank'...……..well Im getting about 200-250 miles on £45's worth on longer journey and I would say about 180 ish sometimes more on little trips, but that's not towing anything though. I did have LPG in my p38 4.6 few years ago that wasn't as economical as this one, but was ok. also depends on what price u pay for the LPG too, my local one is 59.9 currently, which isn't too bad. At the end of the day its better than paying 124.9 or whatever it is at the moment for petrol!!!

Well you well and truly burst that bubble for me! You are getting nearly 30mpg to my just over 15!!! Mine has a stupid K&N air filter which I hated anyway, it definitely has to go now. BTW 59.9 as well.

Thanks for my like
Lol sorry to burst your bubble, only had ours for couple of months, bits n pieces that need looking at, it was owned by a professional rugby player who had spent quite a bit on it before we had it so in quite good condition.
PS Lovely day for an ice cream!!!
