Hi all I'm new on here not new to land rovers though.

I have a question hoping someone may be able to help. My defender 200 tdi has died. I've stripped the engine but the cylinders are to worn for a reborn and my local engineering company think the liners will have to machined out the new ones fitted and then bored to fit new pistons a quote of £700.
I've got a mate selling a disco 200 tdi engine. Will it drop straight in... Other than modding the exhaust. ...? Any advice will be greatly received.

Thanks Ben

If it doesn't you need a bigger hammer! It should fit, but check what state the donor engine is in - the £700 might be an investment if the donor is not too good.

Thanks for the replies. Big hammer is standard in my tool kit. I'm keeping the other engine it's completely stripped down. Going to get it all cleaned up and plan to get the block sorted in time. I've had the head skimmed and pressure tested and the injectors tested.
