Hi guys my name is Diane :D, im after buying a freelander around 2003 plate, do you know of any problems i should be aware of, weather to go for petrol, diesel,1.8 or 2.0, i've not owned a 4x4 before but could do with one for the winter weather, any advice you can give is much apreciated

Hi, if you post in the freelander section you'll get more constructive answers! Mostly:) there is loads of info on here about them. People that own them love them. They do have faults. Td4 is probably the best choice

TD4 (2.0Ltr Diesel) post 2004 after the 'facelift' has most of the early issues sorted ;)

Go for a TD4 2004 onwards, check all the elec. windows & tail window all work. Also do a few tight manouvers on the turn in reverse & 1st gear - listen for any bangs which could show up a cracked sub-chassis. Also when doing the tight tunrs, it feels light the handbreak is on when it isn't might be a sign the IRD unit is on its way :)
