Hi everyone just quick question, Rangie needs 4 new tyres, are they ok just having rears replaced then bit later fronts? Normally I’d do all 4 but that’s a big expense right this moment, as I understand the transfer box as like limited slip, Torsten type, (bmw era l322) so different tread depth shouldn’t make a difference unlike p38 with a viscous coupling on freelander 2 with its haldex where front and back need to be as close as possible. I’m sticking with road tyres so fronts would be on about 2-3mm new ones about 8mm.
Thanks.

That is not something I would do personally on any 4 X 4. Nexen Rodians are a good tyre and not so expensive as some of the major brands. I run them on 2 P38's and a friend had them on his L322 and was very happy with them. (No affiliation).
Maybe you should change your handle to "Not so rich28UK" LOL

I'd avoid Avon ZX7 as 3 of the 4 I had fitted wore very unevenly and very quickly where as my Davanti Terratoura are fine and no adjustments were made after fitting.

Was looking at Davantis and Toyo proxys as they get decent reviews and just over £120 a tyre. Main thing is that the transmission can take a different tread front to back, as far as I know being like an open diff it should be, normally I’d stick 4 tyres on but not right now.

Can't help with your transmission question but yes it's a bit of a hit on your wallet, speshully when I had to do 5 as I bought a slightly larger tire.

What size did you get? “Hit on the wallet” has been everything at moment here, new cooker, new fridge, new boiler. Money comes in then out again at moment.

I had the Nexens on mine, £98 each fitted, they were very good.

Which wheels are you running? One of the older styles? As in your pic? I have a set of 18” five spoke from when I got them but they have 255/55/18 on wrong size often thought of going to a slightly more profile like a 65 as some say it brings the Speedo to bang on accurate and more comfort.

Yep they are the 'older style' 18" alloys but with 275 x 65 x 18's on....a good friend of mine who used to have a V8 diesel RR said mine was more comfortable than his, so it must be the tyre size that makes the difference. The suspension has been raised by 7.5cms to allow for the bigger tyres though!

Ah right, I got 19s but on two minds to go back to 18s as some say there more comfortable others say 19s are as comfortable etc, I did read somewhere that some run 255/65/18 without problems and they help fill the arches but don’t rub would be nice to have a bigger tyre, seem more resistant to damage too. How was your suspension raised through ecu or lift kit etc?
