Hi guys I hope you all well, I purchased a brand new trailer (not a cheap one) last week when walking up the drive this morning noticed rust underneath , my neighbor says I’m being to fussy but is this enough to warrant sending it back? See the rust around the welded area? I’ve only had it a few days and it hasn’t even been near a puddle

Hi and thanks, Would you demand for another one or money back? I don’t want to give it back to them for them to just spray over it with something, I’ve just sold my old one too so I’m in a bit of a grump about it

It will have been hot dipped galvanised there may have been contaminates around the weld & the coating hasn't taken
in that area or very very thin??, I wouldn't accept a cold galvanised paint over the top it if they were to do that, you would see
the paint as its dull not shinny like as it is just now. Id call them & be nice to see what they say.

Ohh god not looking forward to calling them, hopefully they sort it out as it has taken me 8 years to save for this trailer!

Some bits of the coating is quite flaky?

You’ve had it a few days, and it’s new.

Take it back get another/your money back, simple. depending on their attitude as too which option you go for.

Good luck.

Never easy to confront somebody, but sometimes needs must.

You saved hard earned money for it, you deserve to get what was advertised. If it’s showing rust it’s not been done properly simple.

Thanks chaps, I’ll be on the phone tomorrow as soon as they open
It won't be a problem to them, they'll just send it back too. Brand new one or money back. You're perfectly within your rights to get either. Is it a well known make?

Thank you, getting ready to call them when they open in an hour, yes it’s a well known make too, not a Halfords one either

Another thought. Galv normally protects steel that's exposed immediately adjacent to it. e.g. If you drill a hole through a galved section. So, to me, that would indicate a fair bit of damage under there, given the amount of rusty water stains coming out.

The angle iron section where the rust is coming from looks to me like it's been spray painted possibly because there was an issue with the galvanizing in that area. I'd take it back and if they give you a replacement double check that area before accepting it.

Hi lads they are coming to look at it today, here is a picture in the daytime, the water marks are from where I sprayed the whole trailer in duck oil, really hope they sort me out with a new one
