Just to update
Welding done, hopefully..
Wings back on and bodged wiring fixed up
Oil is leaking out of the steering box, anyone tried using something to soften the seals?
Front brakes have oil on them so I've ordered new shoes and a seal, hope it's an easy swap
Rear brakes ok
I changed the ignition barrel cos I had to wiggle the wires to start it, it's still the same :-( im beginning to think there is a click just before the starter gets power, could this be the solenoid?

Hub stripped to fit new oil seal, now waiting for wheel cylinder as mine leaking.... Maybe it wasn't leaking oil after all.
Still trying to find out if I've a faulty solenoid ....

That chassis was in a bad way! You're making great progress though. I think you've got more done in a few months than I have in a year!

Apart from the welding, it's really been a case of getting it back to mot standard, I think it had a lot of money/ time spent on it about 5 years ago, even has new carpets and seats - them a friend of mine bought it, played with it for a year then bent the front and parked it up..... Fast forward to this summer + lots of beer = "oh I'll buy it "
My only worry is if there is more botched welding, there are lots of welding patches but so far they all look solid.... o_O

Update time!
New front shoes, new wheel cylinders, new brake pipes from flexi hose, cos they leaked after I re used them ( wasted a few days while I ordered them, note - don't waste time for a few extra quid! )
Bled the brakes - nearly, ran out of time before last one, the colour of the fluid wS almost black, I've used nearly 2L to get it clear so far !!!!
New starter solenoid has cured my non starts, but has left me with an extra wire with no where to go!
Air filter cleaned out
Nearly ready for the MOT now...:)

Changed the oil an filter today, for looks like the first time this millennium...... It's rewarded my be leaking from the oil canister, and yes it's a new seal any ideas before I tighten it too much and break it :-(

Hope it goes through the MOT when its ready. Nothing quite like getting a project MOTd (as long as it passes obviously...) For some reason I always have that slightly apprehensive feeling when ever I taken anything the the MOT station....weird

Cheers mate!
I'll know by lunchtime! It 'll either scrape through or will get picked up on every thing :)

Wicked...nice one... what's next on the things to do list?? Just drive it I hope!!
...well ....... It needs some new shocks (at least ) as it bounces all over the shop!!! It's still leaking from the oil filter canister, it done up tighter than tight now, so needs to come off again :-(
I want some rear fog lights and a reversing lamp(s) - can anyone recommend any? Need the new brakes to bed in and re adjusted, there terrible !!!
Need to drive it more that's for sure, still in shock about it passing first time :)
Would like to make it more winter friendly, need to close up a few holes and get the heater working better for a start off, maybe some carpet type stuff for inside of roof, it's just bare metal at mo

Congratulations on the MOT pass. That is a great achievement.

Cheers, you'll be next!

Managed to sort the leaking oil filter canister, simply replace the new oil seal ........with the old one! Thankfully I don't throw anything away.
While having a look round landyzone I read the wot series thread and discovered I've got the wrong doors on, ( I think) as a series 3 should have mirrors on the door hinges and window catches on the bottom of glass. I've got wing mirrors and top window catches. I knew the landy had had a replacement wing as one of them has holes for light guards and one doesn't. Also I've one sealed beam and one halogen headlight, mot man didn't spot it thankfully, but I will sort them out. Drove a few more miles in it today, brakes are still poo but will give it a few more miles to bed them in a bit, then I'll have a play with the adjusters and re bleed, hopefully that will sort it.
Ordered a rear fog light kit off eBay so hopefully I'll get that done before Xmas too

Well finally got the chance to put some miles on it this week :) do people really drive these things over 40 !?!
It was lots of fun, especially on the back roads, it felt more at home there.
Front left brake is sticking on again though :-/

Just thought I'd better up date things a little
Brakes are getting better as I thought they would, I've had to re bleed a few times though, got a rear fog light on but not happy with the wiring so will have to re do it. I've re done the tracking so it steers better now. Been told that there's nowt wrong with the shocks... ' there all like that !' So I'll keep it as is.
Done about 80 or so miles in last couple of weeks and nothing has fell off or broken so well happy :)

Well carnt believe the Landy has had 2 mots since I started this thread! And 2 passes :) the last one last month I only got an advisory on a bit of play in a front wheel bearing. So well chuffed. I've done over a 1000 miles between mots, according to the dash, don't think this can be right though, probably due to having 205 80 tyres on? The brakes are finally working ok ( ill jinx it now) after giving in constantly bleeding them myself and getting a garage to pressure bleed them. The fog light I mentioned earlier on is back in the garage after it kept melting wires and blowing fuses, no idea what's going on, faulty rely maybe?
Was very lucky that Farther Christmas got me some door tops from SP so After a weeks delay, when we realised one door bottom was rusted really badly at the top, so much so the door top support tube nearly come off with the top :-/. so bit the bullet and got hold of 2 new bottoms as well. Me and my 12yo spent yesterday putting them on.
Just needs some paint and a new windscreen, mines covered in weld splatter.
.... oh and an alternator, a spin on oil filter conversion, door mirrors, new headlights and it might, just might be finished! :)
