Brand new 1st time land rover owner here, came over to the dark side after I got sick of my mates TD5 pulling my 2.8 pajero home after I'd blown the engine (again....!!)

Got myself a series 2 discovery td5 and true to form, I want to mod it before a months ownership is up......

First off is the wonderful plug and play cruise, is this really as simple and two switches and 10 minutes with a stanley knife ?? Could do with some feedback on that please - ideally a template if anyone has one.... or a fitting guide for the mentally challenged...

Second one is can you get the emergency card from anywhere - went throught the handbook and it seems like I should have one in the wallet but dont.... Any advice gratefully recieved...

Third one - Got a really funny whirry grindy noice when cold when the clutch is depressed - goes off when hot - forward and reverse gears, and simply dipping the clutch causes it. No noice when clutch released in or out of gear. I'm thinking clutch release bearing, but could it be another nastie hiding in the depths...... Got two years warranty with car so the dealer will be doing the work - dont want to be fobbed off though

Fourth one is probably just me - car seems to struggle and strain a bit at about 3k revs, and while power is there it seems to strain like it was restricted - fuel or air filters ?? - also seems to get very noisey at this time

Looking forward to the ownership bit - looking forward to not crying everytime a bit drops off and I dont have to pay mitsi prices

Can't help on too much,but regards your Emergency Card,you will probably have to contact a main dealer and prove ownership,fax copy of reg book.I did this with Harwoods and they were very helpful with the codes etc.I got the radio code and the key code from them,but you need to read the handbook to understand how to use the key code works.Hope this helps,

I've had a look on the forums and CharlseY seems to be Landrover YODA (the problem fix I will, oh Yes..) Will have to see If I can appeal to his good side........

Hi mate i to have came over to the dark side i used to have an isuzu trooper (heap of junk) but have got a TD5 now. Fitted cruise control to it the other week one of the easiest mod jobs i've done just two switches and cut a hole for the controler. Got mine of e-bay and comes with template to cut hole
