i managed to get it to my mums thankfully, we towed it with my girlfriends focus!!! (which i will no longer slag off!!!) but we`re going to get it home tomorrow,

If it is an Auto ,I trust you used the correct towing procedure ,otherwise you may have gearbox issues now!

Regardless of the complexities of the rangie at the end of the day it is just a petrol engine, therefore to make it run you need petrol, compression and spark. Lets assume you have compression given that it worked fine 5mins before it wouldnt start. Your AA man says fuel pump is good which leaves the spark. A weak spark is almost as useless as no no spark so you need to start troublehooting that aspect. If it was a misfire I would suggest starting at the plugs and working back but since yours just died i would start at the fuse box and work forward to the coil packs. the fuse box is not unlike Pandoras box insofar that it hides many nasty things. Look for signs of yellowing where it has overheated. Slide all the relays in and out a couple of time to clean the terminals. If the fuse box passes muster move on the coil packs.
