Just took the springs out, drew them on the floor, than measured how much I needed to lower in my case it was 4 inches and flattened the springs to measure.Obviously you need to dismantle to separate the leafs.

That is interesting. I wouldn't consider that would be safe for actual driving, though.

I have driven the vehicle with no problems. Considering our speed limit is 60 kms almost everywhere it did not make a difference. When passing a sleeping policeman I drive really slow. Actually I have an inch play to hit the bump stops. Also I deflated the tires to 25 psi with no probs but than again I only drive it occasionally.

Not only do you not have any clearance on the bump stops, but it should not be possible to bend a spring steel leaf spring. Yours must be completely worn out if you can do that.
Admittedly 60kph is quite a low speed limit, and I do not know what the motoring laws in Malta are, but in the UK it would be illegal to drive with springs in the condition.

Hi, they are not worn and in perfect condition without any hint of rust. There is a technique which is used to lower the leaf springs. In fact I did mine under the guidance of an engineer. All I did is lower them and although i said they are on the bump stop I have an inch clearance. In fact if you see the springs they are not dead flat but are still bent. The only difference I saw was less roll during driving making the car more stable. I want to raise it back mostly because I wish to leave it as original as possible. Even when you get in the car you see it moving by the weight and when turning a roundabout it bends normally not stiff. I must have explained myself wrong.

Could be a language issue, but I have never heard of re-profiling existing leaf springs. Usually springs are changed if lower or higher ride is required. Obviously, lowering ride height is fairly unusual on Series landrovers, most want to go the other way.
Hope it works out OK for you, I do think it would be better to raise it back to standard height when you can.

Mind you being a 5'6" tall I have saved some money on a fork lift to climb in. At least at the moment I can just climb in ha ha.
 
Dear All especially Turboman who did his best to help me out. Today I managed to once again lift my series 3 to the original height. Have serviced the leaf springs whilst they were dismantled. I am truly surprised at the ride I now have, not harsh ss it was and best of all no noises. Really pleased with the result. Thanks goes to my friends Harry and Adrian from Ciappella Motors Malta who did the job professionally today. Super Happy with the result.
