Hi Everyone.

I am 21 and have just finished my degree at Exeter University. I have a Defender 90 200 TDI in light blue and its the best thing I have ever had! Also used to have a 109 series 3 (now owned by a family friend) when at school and have used a Freelander extensivily both on and off road. I have always been nuts about cars and also intend to get an old BMW E30 in the next year or two to run as a track day car, as well as doing trips abroad and nationally with my Defender.

wow! you sound just like my idol would be! im 16, have a landrover defender 90 with a 3.6L V8. she sounds lovely! an old E type BMW is also a beutiful car, and i want to do some track day racing, as a kind of opposite to the offroading i do in my 90. i want to buy a Lancia delta integrale, for the track racing, and if i still have some money left after that i will modify my landrover even more then i already have! Cheers, Rob

The Lancia is a brilliant choice, expensive though! I am hoping to get the E30 as cheap as and then sort it our myself. I want the 2.5i 6 cyclinder but am not looking forward to the insurance! Its all about 4x4s and sports cars!!

Andy

your damn right there! the insurance for my landy when im 17 was impossible to find out. no one would insure me. apart from the NFU. cheapest they said was £2000/yr  so i am having to do it under my mum's insurance, even then it is £500.... outrage. i fear it will be even more for my lancia though, lancia delta integrale is in group 20  ahh well.... still going to be loadsa fun, where abouts are you based?

Its a stupid amuont of money, my first own car was a 1.4i Vauxhall Astra (DOHC) so it was quite pokey but nothing special at all. It cost £1114 to insure third party!!! When I was in an accident that was not my fault and proved not to be my fault they wanted to pay out £700!!! I had to spend to months fighting them to pay out 1400 even though the car was worth a bit more! Insurance companies are a total nightmare.

I am based in Exeter and Bath, going to be Bath mainly soon.

i know! absoultely ridiculous! im based down the south of england... had a bit of trouble getting the bonnet open, what a stupid mechanism it has... eventually after trying everything i managed it... took me ages... hope it is okay after cleaning it out and using the old can of WD40! the mechanism is so dumb, so i am going to change it to just some easy pind through the bonnet, whitch i can just take out when needed, much more sense! cheers Rob

The bonnet on my defender is rubbish, it takes all my strength to pull the release catch and then it wont close properly!! Stupid thing! There are a load of little niggling faults I need to fix when I have time.

Right I am off to Dartmoor now!! Not much offroading there, mainly going to camp for the night with some friends.

Andy

normal camping, but we never made it. My transfer box started ****ing out oil just as we
got to dartmoor. Hoping its just an oil seal and that the box isnt screwed :s had to be low loadered all the way back to Bath :(

Nope, means it was taken home on the back of a big flatbed lorry!!Low Loaders are trailers that are low to the ground or can tilt to easily get vehicles and heavy things on to them.

The landy is waiting to be looked at by a mechanic tonight! Fingers crossed!

Andy
