with receiver?

Just to avoid confusion,

Basically, The RF receiver is in the roof just in front of the rear sunroof, the coil on the ignition barrel is part of the passive system to excite the fob chipset and make the fob send a signal to the roof receiver.

My bad, I remember reading a post showing the RF receiver removal and its susceptibility to water /corrosion caused by broken sunroof drains. I take it the BCU is actually the box that recognises the signal that is sent from the key via the RF receiver.

(Fob button push) "123456" received by Rf receiver, sent to BCU, BCU thinks "that's my cue" - unlocks car, disable alarm.

Key in barrel, close to barrel coil, excites chipset, chipset sends signal to RF receiver, RF receiver sends "654321" to BCU, BCU thinks "that's my cue to disable immobiliser", and we all drive off into the sunset......hopefully?

Just trying to understand fully how "Lumpy" works as I want this to be a long and not too stressful relationship.

So a few bits done today so far. Old ignition barrel removed and new one fitted. Chipset out of the old bent key removed and swapped into one of the keys to the new lock. Drivers door lock and handle replaced, so we now have one complete remote key that does door and remote action, one key which requires reprogramming, and a spare chipset which can be programmed and fitted into a new key blank. Replacement horn buttons fitted and drivers airbag replaced. Good day so far!!
