Hi All
I havee just purchased a series 3 been stood for a few years but started and drove on to the trailer okay. It has a galvanised chassis but the bulkhead looks like it needs some repair. The engine is a 2.8 ford V6 which seems to run fine.

Plan is to change to either a truck cab or soft top (anyone got anything) repair bulkhead and then hopefully get it on the road and do a rolling restoration.

One problem you may be able to help with it is fitted with a recon gearbox shortly before it went off the road, the gearbox sticks in gear if the car is alowed to decelerate in gear and it is a fight to get it out of gear. Has anyone had a fault simulare.

Could be just a dragging clutch or just sticky and unused in general, perhaps try new oil and a bit of driving about in it first.

Cheers for the reply rattlegun but this problem was there when it was layed up, the chap bought a recon gearbox fitted it and had this problem. His plan was to take it out and return it but that never happened

if its a suffix d box it will be harder to disengage gears when box is under hard overrun is it all gears and is selection free when engines not running

Not sure if it's all gears james will check it out. It is a late series so guess its a suffix d box.

it depends on a few things , suffix d dog teeth are designed to grab harder into gear as such under load both on power and overrun ,but it could be fault
