well they are somewhat different to what i expected could work and be good but how do you get a rim to float and split like that while retaining the necssary rigidity for offroading ?
 
most of it is utter tosh, just like most concept cars, I seem to remember a concept landrover what was driven by independant hydraulic motors...but ideas do come from concepts,
I think the "memberane" they show there would be the first to make it to production, a tyre that can reduce its footprint round town, increasing fuel economy, then increase its footprint for higher speed traction.. not a bad idea.
the off road, too flimsy, the magnetic one would use too much power, and the sports one just seems too complex most racing uses.
 
with a decent enough electro magnet it would be feasible, but these sort of things often require significant cooling.. so cant see it happening with current material technology
