Hi All,
can anyone tell me the best place to buy a new TD5 engine for my series 2.Just found that the bolt on the oil pump has decided to come out and the engine is seized,then found various forums saying this is quite common,all for the sake of loctite.Ididnt know i new so many naughty words.So if anyone knows of a good supplier i would be most grateful

yeh did mine when i bought it...
ref a new one, try a breakers & replace the gaskets etc (& the bolt!) try & hear it running first
be cheaper than buying an already re-conned one..dread to think what they are new from LR!!

simmonites at bradford have brand new ones in stock,

Dear JSB,
the engine had done 65000 and my local mechanic said it will only turn with the help of a crow bar.Its a shame because the car is in lovely condition ive only had it for 2yrs before me it was an old boy,never used off road.So if anyone has the time and can replace the engine make me an offer.Thanks for all the info everyone great forum

where are you, what are you planing to do with the old worthless engine ?
 
LAND ROVER DISCOVERY TD5 2000>2005 ENGINE FITTED on eBay (end time 12-Mar-10 15:13:20 GMT)

These guys sorted my engine when it was fooked, they pick your car up, fix it and bring it back to you with either your engine reconned, or a recon engine installed all for a fixed price! This price has gone up now, it was only £1650 when I had it done but they specialise in fixing TD5's and I can vouch for a top job they did!!

edit: forgot to mention thats with a years guarantee too!
 
This problem featured on watchdog many years ago-to cut a long story short I phone the Landrover head office and told them that as the problem was there fault they should sort it out. New engine fitted FOC. Hope this helps!
