Yes I agree, even with the nanocom, you really need to know what you are looking at.

- but temps do seem accurate and normal.

Nope it was a bag of the proverbial before. It had a cracked injector cup, and filled the engine with diesel. It never ran well before, felt like it had no turbo. Now runs like a dream when warm.

So the head was required.

Sorry, this is a confusing post, but so is the issue ( too me, and a workshop...)

Smoke does look blue / grey, which makes me wonder, like some of you, if it’s not oil getting in somewhere?!

If the injector seals are fitted poorl, would I not still be getting diesel in my oil?

If there is a problem with the copper washers then you get gas from the cylinder in the fuel rail in the head, this is often accompanied by the fuel pump howling which goes away when you bleed it.
If the o rings leak then diesel will come out into the oil because its pressurized to 4 bars, and pressure in the head is little more than atmospheric, so you may see oil level rising.
 
I think you should stop going over things that you’ve done already
There’s a small chance that it’s the seals since they’ve been done 4 times. Leave alone.

It seems to me that the fuelling is not correct until it warms up or the timing isn’t quite right.
I asked in a previous post how it starts, what I was getting at was if the timing is good, it should fire up immediately.

On page one, I asked about your coolant sensor. What did you find with that?
Doesn’t the ECU use the coolant sensor to detect a cold engine and then fuel accordingly?
Test the sensor with a multimeter at ambient temp and then drop it in hot water and do it again.
This is a cheap thing to try instead of giving it to the garage again.

I also see from your video that you removed the EGR. Did you block off the vacuum lines that were vacated?

Thanks for the replies! Well I have got it!!!

That number one injector showing funny readings on nanocom!

I took it out yesterday, replaced it with a friends known working one, instantly ran better.

This morning, no smoke, perfect idle, running like a dream!!

So I paid a fair bit for my injectors to be rebuilt, unfortunately one seems to have missed the pass mark.

This was a big trail of lots of problems, I now have an entirely new fuel system, new cylinder head ( this was required) and some injectors! As a result, now that it’s working, it’s driving beautifully!

Really appreciate all the feedback, suggestions, not easy diagnosing when a workshop has not been able to sort.

I’ll keep you posted on what’s next!
