my stereo has finally given up, not surprising really as is nearly 10 years old has been through the vehicle fire and several trips around the desert. I need a single din unit to fit in the raptor dash console I have and If I am fitting a new one my only requirement is Bluetooth. All the radio/ music I listen to is through my phone, and it would Be useful (as much as is possible in a 30 year old 110) to have hands free calls.
I am currently considering this one:

I like the sound of the separate microphone as that may go Some way to combating the Tutsi under the bonnet!
What would you guys recommend or what do you have in your vehicles?

The one you linked looks like a decent option. It says it includes a microphone but it's not clear whether it's built into the unit itself, or if you can reposition it elsewhere in the cab. I reckon you'd need to be able to position it where you like if you stand a chance of being heard.

Personally I have this one, it says it supports calls but no one has ever been able to hear me. I pretty much exclusively use the bluetooth feature so cant say how well the rest of it performs. My only gripe is it plays a jingle everytime you turn the car off. Depending how cheap you want to go, it might be an option.

Otherwise I'd be tempted by this one. Could be good if you ever plan on fitting a reversing camera. It says you can plug in an external microphone which would give you a better chance of being heard on the phone. It also seems like you are able to connect 2 phones by bluetooth. One possible downside is it is a DAB radio so youd have to buy DAB antenna if you wanted to listen to the radio.

Many thanks. Unfortunatly that jvc is more than I am looking to spend. Hoping to get something g for around the £100 mark. I had not considered the microphone not being external to choose the mounting. I had just assumed it Would be it was advertised as having one, I will need to do some more research. I was looking for an external mic I can mount above the sun visor with the cb so there is some hope of competing with the tdi under the bonnet!

I have the older version of the Alpine. It’s been good, and with a separate mic (on mine) I can make and receive calls. A few downsides though, firstly the USB socket no longer works, secondly my phone sometimes disconnects and finally it’s completely reset itself a few times. It was cheap and has lasted about 4 years, so don’t feel too bad about replacing it in near term.

I bought a JVC from amazon, one of their returned/refurbished items, so it was the right price. To be honest I was expecting some minor damage to the fascia or something, but in actual fact it looks 100%, more importantly it works too.
I'd certainly consider buying a returned item again for 50% off.

Well I have been looking at this again. My requirements are:
  1. to be able to play music through bluetooth from my phone
  2. to have hands free phone call from two phones
  3. To have an external microphone (to compete with the noise of 200tdi)
I am currently looking at this one: Pioneer MVH-X580BT

Does any one hvae any expriance with this, it seems to do everything I am looking for but some first hand expriaince from someone with a similar model would be great.

I have a Sony, similar to this: Amazon product
Mine is a bit older. It did come with a mic, not sure if the one listed does. Anyway, works very well and 4 x 50w is enough to hear over the usual tratter racket at 60mph.
