I've fitted an aftermarket double din stereo with Bluetooth etc in my freelander. I have the Harmon Kardon system.

I have power but no sound ? Any ideas what's wrong lol.

Car in question is a freelander sport mk1, 2004 reg

Have you removed the Harmon Kardon amplifier? If you haven't that why u don't have sound, but if u have then check the loudspeaker connections to your head unit.

Agh right I see!ni not removed the amplifier mate, so it's just as simple as removing the amp I.e unplugging it etc ?

The HK amplifier drives the speakers. Removing it still won't give you any sound. You need to connect the output of the stereo to the speak connections at the amplifier. You'll loose the subwoofer, unless you fit a replacement amplifier to power that.
Or contact the stereo output to the HK amplifier inputs. ;)

Here's the wiring diagram for both types of audio system including the HK amplifier.

It goes with out saying that the break in the loudspeaker wring will have to be bridged following the amp removal.
Therefore extending loudspeaker wires to the new head unit.

Does sound a right pain, basically I just likes the idea of an Aux for my iPhone as I use Apple Music a lot, hence headunit with aux input would look the part.

What if I was to go down the route of buying an Aux input, one that cancels out the CD player on the factory head unit. Seen a few on eBay, I could live with that. Would the issue with Harmon kardon still be the same

No. If are still the factory HU the rest of the setup will still work.

It's easy supply an ignition feed to the purple/yellow wire and that will power up the amp and sound will be available

Hi I've the same problem but was told about a R6 K3 relay which hasn't worked... I test wires across the amp plug and all speakers work when done one by one... ? ?

Hi, I know this is an old thread but does that work? I could add a double din for instance and not have to mess around with the wiring apart from adding that cable you mentioned and that is enough to make the amp work with existing wiring?

Yes that’s correct

Wow, seems pretty straight forward? Did I read somewhere that the sub won't work?

So just need to pick up a double din stereo and a connects2 kit I guess and get that wire wired and thats it I guess.

Haven't done it yet no, its a project for summer, going to be replacing the stereo with a sat nav android unit, as long as the amp powers up will be happy days. Also need to replace the roof top aerial for a standard one so just gathering the bits together. But looking into it seems pretty do-able.
