Hi
I'm going to be fitting some new springs and shocks to the rear of my hardtop 110 300tdi
The ride is really stiff at the moment, bounces me all over,my question is will standard springs and shocks go straight on? How will I know if my defender has been raised?
I can't see anything on springs as they are all rusty ,shocks look newer and are coloured dark blue??
Bit new to this defender tinkering lark although I'm confident in my self fitting the new gear as I spent plenty of time in my youth repairing my old bangers I bought !

Try cleaning the springs, and see if there are any colour bands to identify them, standard springs have colour bands to show correct fitments.
And if you have a manual, there should be clearances between the bump stops and the axles all round to show whether the springs are worn or non standard.

I've fitted NRC4306 to the front and NRC6388 to my 110 along with spring isolators and discovery 2 rubber mounts.

Rides like a range rover now... almost.

An ARB is recommended for this setup.

I'd recommend the Terrafirma 4-way adjustable shocks as you can adjust them for a softer/harder ride than standard.

I fitted them to my 110 TD5 (with standard springs) and it made a noticeable difference to the ride quality. I also fitted them to our 90 SW and that rides better as well, with them on the softest setting.

For the best improvement you need to fit the front ones as well, although they are £60 each it's worth it.
