Hi,
I purchased what I think is the correct cable to replace the one that broke. I've got a 1987 (D reg) Landrover with the original engine, transfer box and gear box. From this I ordered the speedo cable with part number PRC6022 however when I come to fit it, the metal square cable is about 5mm too long and doesn't git into the back of the speedometer. On the parts catalogue, it shows 3 possible varients - rhd 4 cylinder, rhd v8 and a lhd type. I've purchased the 4 cylinder rhd one.
Looking at the old one and new one, it does appear that the part that goes into the back of the dial is different on the original and the replacement. The original one has a tapered plastic square insert whereas the new one is just a metal square insert with no taper.
I've a speedometer from a 200tdi and that fits the new cable better.
So have I got the wrong part or do I just need to force it in or should I just cut the square drive thing by 5mm and hope it doesn't fook it?
Thanks
Jasper
