thanks Nodge,
re servo nope, this is the 1st servo change I have had the car from new.

"It is possible that the servo is now different and the listing showing the same servo from 96 to 2006 is wrong. The servo changed in ~ 2000 from a single diaphragm to twin diaphragm type. The master cylinder changed too a remote reservoir type at the same time.
I see your MC is an early type, so you should have solid discs and single diaphragm servo. Like I said earlier, maybe your car had the later servo from a previous replacement? Going from a double diaphragm to single diaphragm would give a noticeable increase in pedal effort."
A) Microcat listing shows both parts SJG100220 and SJG000010 as valid from 1996-2006
B) I can see the difference in MC and yes the one I have would have the SJG100220 servo
C) My original servo was definitely fatter front to back than this one but could not have been an SJG000010 dual diaphram due to MC type, if I had the later servo wouldn't I have to have had the remote reservoir as well
D) As said earlier I don't know for certain what the original part number was but now see there is an SJB000010 see this link and image
https://www.ebay.ie/itm/122462750230 as well as SJG000010 The SJB doesn't have the vac pipe hole and two MC studs in a straight diagonal line so can't be same thing
I have done the testing as you suggested and both tests are ok.
So I am back to square one I had DEEP/FAT servo (part number unknown, unsure) now have a skinny one everything appears to work but braking is nt as powerful as before??? Looks like I am going to assume there is sommething wrong with servo and get it changed underwarranty.
