Hello everyone

This is my introduction to the landy zone forum. I have just bought a series 3 that does not have a water gauge, can anyone help me in terms of the water and or coolant mix that i should put in when the radiator needs topping up please

All the best

Standard ethylene glycol antifreeze suitable for cast iron engines. I think the dilution depends on the temperature you need to protect from, it'll tell you on the bottle. By "gauge" I presume you mean temperature gauge? easy enough to sort out. The sender bolts into various places depending on the engine and the feed to the sender goes from the regulator behind the clocks to the indicator and then to the sender. What you need is this:- Land Rover Manuals, Part Catalogue, workshop manual, download pdf files, Landroverweb.com Linking your Landy to the World!

Use the old fashioned green antifreeze, not the modern fluorescent pink stuff, it will eat the seals and hoses. I do about 50/50 mix

Thanks very much for the help mate. Yes your right I did mean the temp gauge. Whats the difference between the standard antifreeze and other variants, and would most places sell the standard form?

Appreciate the help

I think i remember reading in the Owners manual 33% anti-freeze and rest water will protect you down to about minus 18. And like Oxides said a ethylene glycol based anit-freeze containing no methanol is what you need.

Bluecol 2 year should work just fine (yes, it's blue not green). I think Halfords standard one should work but Bluecol from a motor factor may be cheaper.

Two year stuff is the right one, the 5 year stuff is the wrong one. Halfrauds sell it, it's the cheapest one they sell. Blue or Green, deffo not Pink or Orange
