Hi

im in the process of rebuilding my landy 110 county SW (89)

Im after the following

Door seals x 5
Windscreen seal
Front bulkhead vent seals
Safari window seals
Small rear window seals (the ones either side of the door)

What im after is advice / contacts of where is the best place to get them from - I guess im after your advice on Cost VS Quality as a balance.

This is never going to be a showcar. as its an 89 model !

Many Thanks in advance

kind rgds
David

I'm doing the same as you - LR series does pretty much every thing. And to begin with I made comparisons over price with other sellers, and they are always there or there abouts. So now I only use them now!

But as anyone will tell you - buy genuine. Brit part are sh1t (sh1tpart). Or buy anything with an OEM sticker / classification.

You really can tell the difference - I bought lower door seals for my 110 - rear where sh1tpart front where genuine. The genuine one fit, seal and work so much better.

But it depends what you want: a Land Rover Defender or a BritPart Defender?

Hi Ben

Thanks for the reply

So thats genuine 1 ..... copy 0

but looking at lR series site, their prices for a genuine set of 5 door seals will be about £65 each genuine ...... a britpart about £18 ..... Or for the whole car £300 plus postage just for the genuine main seals ! As opposed to less than £100

I'm not sure I can really justify that on a battered 24 yr old car .... The landy it's-self is probably only worth 3 grand total

Currently it has no door seals on it at all ! So was figuring any seal would be a huge improvement ????

Are the Brit part ones really that bad then ? Sounds like they are crap from what you say ?

Has anyone else used britpart seals ?

Cheers
Dave

ive used quite a few, they work well ,sometimes you get a very poor one but just return and swap it,or if you look on this link under automotive you can make some of your own

loads on ebay, I bought the full set of door seals for £60, windscreen was £4 etc etc, you haven't added a location to your profile so no idea if it helps but Newbury is on in under a month, you'll get the lot there

Yeah I found out how expensive they were recently, that's why I opted from some Britpart ones! But its easy to notice the difference between the two.

But as you say going from No seals to new britpart seals will be a huge improvement.

Hi Ben

Yeah - i guess the from no seals, to Britpart would be 85% of the improvement i agree

If i had pots of money i would definitely go LR original but i if i had another £200 spare i could spend it more critical items of the landy

i had a quick look on EBAY last night and there are a few people claiming 'OE' spec ones for £16 quid, but guess these must be Britpart or copies . ???

200tdiAyre - Can you expand on how you made yours ? im guessing you mean you cut 'V's out of the seal in the corners and then resealed them together somehow ????

Can you expand on how you did it, and was it worth the hassle ?

eebadger - im in Knutsford UK - ill try and add that to my profile (thanks for pointing it out)

cheers

replaced mine on the 110 with some from Paddocks, ok cheaper than OE but massive improvement and looked great over the kanckered split decaying originals.
Mines an old 86 model and on a budget so its a balance, still need to do the windscreen seal, jury is out on this one on best way forward :)

Smiley Steve - i guess we are on the same page mate

mine has - no seals and hasn't for about 3 months, so its windy, leaky and noisy ..... i recon ANY seals will be a massive improvement, i've had a look at Paddocls and i'm going to order all of them from there i think

thanks for the advice guys

cheers

Update ----- i ended up buying a full 5 x door set for about 60 quid off EBAY

very very happy with them - quality was really good, they fitted well and its made a big difference ... its not half as drafty !!!

cheers

Update after 6 months ..... still going well, bedded in nice ..... definitely worth the money in my opinion on an older landy

cheers
