Well the time has come for some new springs…. Going down the parabolic roust as the car will do 90% of its life on the road with 2 people and a dog so no heavy lifting to be done…

That’s the best deal currently on offer for a full set? I know there are a few makes and I under some are better than others…. But What’s What?

I haven't checked all the other offerings that are available these days. However in the past, ALL of the other parabolics where inferior. In design and material and usual specification.

On every common thing for other makes, it to sell over specced and over rated spring rates. Which results in a very stiff ride, as well as preventing it from flexing off road.

There is a lot of good info on the two sites I've linked too, the info will apply to any parabolic, so have a read through it. But do be honest with yourself on what you'll use the Land Rover for. Getting the wrong spring rate will result in a poor ride as a rule.

Generally speaking, a good parabolic setup should flex more readily, but should be a lot smoother on rough terrain (or bumpy roads), as there is no friction from the leaves touching each other. So they are free to move and react quickly to pot holes, where solid leaf packs won't. But because of this, expect a little more body roll. Body roll should be akin to a coil sprung 90 without anti-roll bars.

Oh, and you'll need new shocks. Stock shocks don't work well with parabolics.

GB Springs usually get the nod across the forums. Avoid the Britpart/Paddocks stuff, they have been known to sag overnight. You will get good service from GB and at a fair price.

We have 2 fitted with gb springs and they work very well.

must admit I have made a mental note to give gb a try if I need springs, noticed the springs on my s1 are ****part but they look very old so maybe the quality was better back then.

gb only seem to do standard springs - not sure i want parabolics - for s1's unless you can phone them and they will make them for the other series.

gb springs. I've got GB springs on the SWB and they're good. The rocky mountain ones I got for the LWB seem far too hard, have too much curve on them. with my considerable weight they dont compress at all whereas the gb ones give a good bounce!

I'd get some slightly harder shockers - de carbon gas over oil ones I got from paddocks match them nicely.

I have had GB on for over 10 years 100% good used to be called British Springs...

RM have had some bad quality control issues of late...if I had a barge pole.....
