hey

Due to pregnant girlfriend i have sold on my Stage 1 V8 109 and decided to have a comfortable off roader to take her to hospital in instead!!

I have bought a 1996 4.6 hse v8 with coil spring conversion and it looks the business and spent a lot of time on here searching for the best one to buy and despite horror stories I think the P38 is great so far despite a bit of hassle in first few days

my issue is when i bought it i saw the battery was draining and BECM light on etc so went straight out and ordered the RF receiver and replaced with gen3 version and battery drain stopped straight away.

HOWEVER in between me buying the beast and getting the new receiver fitted the central locking stopped working on the front doors.
I have had no issues with key codes or immobilsation and apart from the front 2 doors not working (drivers works with key) it is spot on. Having read lots of other posts on here i can see problems due to receivers or remotes but mine just seems to have occured around the battery getting flat and presumed they would start working again now the battery is fully charged

do i need new soor locks / actuators / outstations or is there a way of getting them both going again?

thanks (in advance!!)

david

Hi Dave, this sounds like the motors that open and close the doors by remote have burnt out in the latches, if you remove the drivers door card and remove the door latch you will see where the motor sits, its like the old school scalextric cars motors, i know for a fact the rear door latches have this motor and if you can spend a little time taking them apart, (photo as you go along) you will be able to fit the working motors into the front door latches, if you sniff the front door latch motors you will tell they have burnt out, and if you try to spin them they wont turn easy. :)

Cheers for the quick response and I will give it a go

Thought it was odd they both went the same day and with a flattening battery but sometimes the obvious answer is the correct one!

I will start diving round in door casings at the weekend

Cheers
