Hi new here after buying my first landrover freelander and my question is when I bought it the previous owner had a new transfer box fitted and told me the garage that did the work offered to save him money on his fuel by not fitting the vcu, prop shafts back on to make it 2wd, I did receive these parts off him however after a search on here it seems the vcu could of caused the box to go so my dilemma is do I leave it in 2wd of do I fit the vcu hope it's ok or buy the recon vcu £295 ,any advice would help as I'm in north east and snow is on its way no doubt

I've looked at them but to far away there is a place in Durham recons them including new bearings will probably get the recon unit just incase the old one caused the transfer box to fail cheers

Does yo insurance know?

Coz if not it is likely you are uninsured.

Get the bearings checked at the same time.
