hello everybody .. i'm just coming to the end of a rebuild on my 90 and as a result i'm starting to think about the next one . i've had a look at what i've got and had an idea , ( uups ) . i've got an 2.5na diesel and a lt77 gearbox with all the bit's and pieces inc rad etc . so the question is,will this engine and box combo go into a series 3 , i've wanted to rebuild a series 3 for years but never found the right one , i grew up with them my dad had thousands . any help would be welcome ..
:confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused:

where did you live, in a large fiels, how many thousands did your dad have, 2000, 3000 ???? ;) was this all at once or did he swap them every day ??? ;)
ive told you a million times not to exaggerate ;)

hello yella , it's not that much off an exageration trust me my mum used to go belistic , she once did'nt speak to him for days cos he came home in a 2b , i did'nt know mums could swear like that

any engine will fit any gearbox with a little fettling, as will any engine/box fit into any chassis. all you need is one of sheffields best inventions ;)

i like the sound of that , lets all talk about tight leather , we could also try dairy products , you now creams and so on ..................sorry ,got a bit carried away then .
by the way is anybody gonna answer my question .... remember that , the one about the 90na and the lt77 .

yeh but no but yeh but ....... whats ffs...... now be careful remeber i've just got a snooker cue

ffs=for ****s sake.
and another thing, i give you the answer to your temp problem then you go telling other ppl how to fix theirs without by or leave to mentoning who told you ;)

ah... well see ... what .... if i tell them you told me they'll think i don't know what i'm talking about .

Sorry to give a straight reply, but, yes the 2.5 N/A Diesel will go straight into the S3. The very late ones had a 2.25 version (same head/castings) mated (don't get excited) to a standard S3, D suffix gearbag. I have one and can let you have a pic of the engine bay if it would help. email me direct and I will send you one.

I don't have a clue about the lt77 box. Can you post letters in it?

wow !!!!! a proper reply !!!!!
tell me more , are you saying the engine should fit the series box , i can live without the lt77 :)

You can send me abuse direct at rileyrm@eircom.net

Yes, I think the engine should go straight in, and connect to any series gearbox/propshafts etc.

It won,t set the world on fire. You would be well advised to fit an overdrive or range-rover diff's if you plan to do more motorway than off-road, otherwise you will run out of revs at about 55 mph.
