Hi Everyone
I bought a 2001 3door 1.8 petrol freelander today.
Its got a lot of service history, had the head gasket done 13k miles ago.
New tyres, major service 1k miles ago.
looking forward to picking it up next week.

Thanks, Its in good shape but possible issues already.
It needs new prop bearings and maybe vcu which aren't a problem.
I drove about 40 miles the other day and although it didnt loose
any water or over heat the top hose felt really firm :(. ive got a receipt for
head gasket replacement 11k ago.
ill change the timing belt aswell as theres no proof its been done in
all the receipts i got with it.

Thanks im happy with it, i gave £900 for it and wont be
doing many miles as ive got a new job and will be commuting by train.
Just hope its not going to be to much grief.
I can do most jobs on cars but hoping not to do the head gasket, not
yet anyway.

Welcome.

Agreed the alloys, and motor, look great - but IMHO a 3 door without the roof rails just looks naff - you got to get some!

Good that the HG's been done - you should be good for at least another 5k miles... but if (when) it does go, do not despair there's lots of help on the Freelander section to get it sorted.

The 1.8 K Series is an awesome engine even with its tendencies to cut channels in head gaskets - decent balance of power and economy.

Freelanders are good solid reliable motors, but there are a couple of things that can screw them up if not attended to, its worth a read of this...
