Hello..
Congrats on getting the problems sorted..I drive my Freelander in 2WD aswell I think it is a better drive,.Easier on fuel..etc..
Only thing I was wondering is Will it M.O.T with the Prop Removed..
I read somewhere that it wil in England,.But I'm not sure abour Northern Ireland..
Could anyone let me Know if they Have M.O.T'd it here without prop shaft..
Took my missus' prop off to fit a new VCU & bearings, & left it off for the MOT, as my local test station has only a two wheel brake test, & incidentally, Freelanders must NEVER be tested on a two wheel tester with the propshaft in place, as it places an unacceptable strain on the drivetrain, infact if the testing station does not have a 4 wheel tester, then the brake test must be carried out using a deccelerometer during a road test!.
Hope this answers your question
Brian.

I have got a year 2000 xedi freelander diesel not a td4 and it has no fan belt as it has 2 electric fans ? Had the car since new.

but it's probably got an auxiliary drive belt, which is the now correct term for what used to be called the fan belt when engines were predominantly longitudinal rather than transverse, and the fan was therefore rotating in the same axis as the engine crank, so could be driven from the engine directly.

now the auxiliary drive belt drives such things for example as air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, water pump, alternator and so on. This list is a generalisation and neither make nor model specific.

And still need replacing from time to time.
